Martin Odersky has released Scala 2.5, a general purpose programming language mixes object-oriented and functional features. It is hosted on top of the Java virtual machine. Unfortunately the tutorials seem to be in PDF, not HTML. Bad Scala! No biscuit.

Richard Pernavas has posted J2SSH 0.2.9, a Java implementation of the secure shell protocol. Supported features include public key and password authentication and the SFTP protocol. This release fixes assorted bugs and changes the license to GPL.
