The Jakarta Apache Project has released version 1.2.13 of Log4j, a vastly overused logging toolkit for Java. Not that it's a bad product or toolkit. It's just that the majority of projects that bundle Log4j this could use much simpler, homegrown solutions and avoid yet another large, complicated dependency. "Log4j version 1.2.13 contains several bug fixes related to the TRACE level introduced in version 1.2.12 and a fix in the ConsoleAppender for a bug that affected JBoss."

The Big Faceless Organization has released the Big Faceless PDF Library 2.6.5, a $700 payware (more if you want support) Java class library for creating PDF documents. The $1300 Extended Edition adds the AcroForms support, digital signatures, and the ability to import and edit and existing PDF documents. Version 2.6.5 improves performance and fixes bugs.
