Java News from Wednesday, May 29, 2007

Frank Wierzbicki has posted the second beta of Jython 2.2. Jython is an open source Python implementation that runs on the Java virtual machine. "Since the previous beta over 30 bugs have been fixed and the last issues involving new-style class integration have been resolved. This is the final beta on the road to 2.2."

It's good to see this project moving again. Python never really quite caught on in the way Ruby or Perl did, and now I'm not sure it ever will break out of its niche, but it's always seemed to me like a much more approachable language.
